Making History: “Love You Inside Out”

On this day in 1979, Bee Gees track “Love You Inside Out” hit #1 in the U.S.

This track, like many of their hits before it, made history for The Bee Gees. It was the ninth number one single for the group in the U.S. (10th when counting “Lonely Days” which was released before Billboard charts existed).

This track also allowed the group to tie The Beatles as the only other artist to have six consecutive number one singles. Last but not least, it was the third consecutive number one off of ‘Spirits Having Flown’ which came on the heels of three consecutive number ones from previous album ‘Saturday Night Fever.’ No other artist has had three consecutive #1s from two consecutive albums.

It has been sampled in 18 different well-known songs, including works from Foxy Brown, Jay Z, Brian McKnight, Snoop Dogg and more, as well as sampled by Canadian indie pop singer-songwriter Feist.
